Language at every stage: How the Planes of Development inform language and literacy teaching from birth through adolescence

As children grow up, they go through a series of changes, taking on different physical, mental and emotional characteristics at each stage or plane of development. One of the most powerful aspects of the Montessori approach is the way it changes with the child’s growth to meet the needs and support the abilities of the child at each stage. Learn how language and literacy teaching in a Montessori environment responds to the unique sensitivities of each stage of development, responding to the child’s needs and capitalizing on their strengths and abilities within each plane.
