Discovering meaning through Visual Texts

This session introduces Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), a methodology that transforms the way students of all ages think and learn. VTS practitioners facilitate discussions of visual art with an open-ended quest to answer “what is going on here?” The resulting dialogues increase student comfort in seeking and constructing meaning while they practice habits of mind and manners, such as providing evidence for their conclusions, and acknowledging respectfully those instances where they build upon, agree, or disagree with the conjectures of their classmates.
