Why and How to Use a Structured Phonics Scope and Sequence to Accelerate Student Learning

How does the Science of Reading overlap with our Montessori pedagogy? The Science of Reading relies on systematic and explicit phonics instruction. How can we use our albums to provide the instruction that children need? What strategies can we layer into our practice to ensure systematic phonics acquisition for every child? This session will cover the “why” of using a phonics scope and sequence but also delve into the nitty gritty of “how” to build one and use one for 3-6 year-olds, 6-9 year-olds, and even 9-12 year-olds.
